The 31st annual Himalaya-Karakoram-Tibet (HKT) Workshop will be held at the Paul-
Langevin Centre in Aussois, France from May 9th to 12th, 2016. It is being organised by iTECC (investigating Tectonics, Erosion, Climate Couplings) a Marie Curie international training network formed in 2013 to study the HKT orogen, with 4 doctoral students from the network (2 from Grenoble) taking the lead on organising the workshop. The aim of the conference is to bring together international geoscientists working on the region to exchange ideas and discuss the latest research of the largest orogenic belt on the planet. It is the only international conference devoted entirely to this region, and is important for bringing together researchers in different fields from around the world and the HKT region itself and creating a sense of community among them. In addition this year, there will be a special focus on bringing doctoral and young post-doctoral students from the HKT region (Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, China, Pakistan, India) to participate.
