Tectonic Evolution and Seismic Risk of NE Iran

Laboratoire(s)/équipe(s) du LabEx OSUG impliqué(e.s) : ISTerre
Porteur du projet : James HOLLINGSWORTH

Résumé

This multi-disciplinary research project takes advantage of a recent and dramatic improvement in political relations between France and Iran to re-establish collaborative links with leading Earth Science institutions (thus, building on nationally coordinated efforts such as the TRIGGER GDRI). Several different research projects are presented, which collectively address the tectonic evolution and associated seismic risk of NE Iran over a wide range of timescales. The broad research interests represented at ISTerre, coupled with a long history of collaboration with Iran provides a unique environement for the succesful undertaking of this multi-disciplinary research project, which involves extensive collaboration across several ISTerre teams, and between different Iranian research institutions. The forging of strong links between ISTerre and Iran will thus open the door to scientific collaboration with other OSUG laboratories in the future.
