38th International Conference on Alpine Meteorology (ICAM)
We are pleased to announce that the 38th International Conference on Alpine Meteorology (ICAM) will take place from 7–11 June 2027 in Grenoble, France, at the foothills of the Alps.
Program and Highlights
A single plenary scientific program will run from Monday to Friday, with a midweek excursion on Wednesday, 9 June, to the Col du Lautaret. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the renowned high-altitude Alpine Botanical Garden of Lautaret, located near the Écrins massif and offering exceptional views of the iconic La Meije peak and its surrounding glaciers. An icebreaker event will be held on Monday evening, 7 June.
Topics covered
ICAM 2027 will be organized as a hybrid event, combining on-site and online participation for oral sessions, while poster sessions will be held exclusively on-site. Please note that on-site participation is strongly encouraged especially for presenters. Contributions are invited on all aspects of meteorology and climate in mountainous areas, ranging from fundamental research to operational challenges, including but not limited to:
- Surface processes in mountain environments, including the cryosphere
- Dynamics of orographically forced airflow
- Boundary-layer processes over complex terrain
- Orographic clouds and precipitation, including extreme events
- Mountain climate variability and change
- Meteorological applications related to renewable energy, air quality, water resources, natural hazards, ecosystems, urban environments, infrastructure, and society
- Numerical weather prediction over complex terrain, including model development, data assimilation, predictability studies, and verification
- TEAMx: Multi-scale transport and exchange processes in the atmosphere over mountains, including observational and modelling studies
Submissions extending beyond these topics are also encouraged, particularly those addressing artificial intelligence as a cross-cutting theme or interdisciplinary approaches to mountain meteorology and climate science.
