Obs4SHS
General objectives
This workshop aims to address the methodological aspects of observation in the social sciences and humanities in order to bring together the scientific community around issues of habitability raised by the OSUG. We propose to explore these issues from the perspective of environmental humanities, through interdisciplinary thematic challenges, such as cross-cutting resources such as water, biodiversity, land, etc. ; questioning relationships with the world (e.g., diversity of cosmologies, values given to nature, construction of scientific/vernacular knowledge, etc.) and environmental observation frameworks (e.g., neutrality of measurements, the place of sensibilities and imaginations, relationship to the starry sky, etc.).
Workshop activities
The aim of the workshops is to strengthen mutual understanding between the different teams and SHS members of the OSUG, but also to contribute to bringing together the humanities and social sciences and the life/Earth/universe sciences.
To this end, we plan to promote interdisciplinary workshops to develop joint projects (e.g., comic books, writing workshops, videos, dance). The idea would be to come together on common ground related to the issues raised by those involved (relationships between mountains and plains, hydro-social cycles associated with climate change in the mountains, experiences of nature in the plain/mountain context, preservation of the starry sky, etc.), by devising an immersive format (bivouac?).
