Day of the Night

OCTOBER
Every year, in mid-October, the Observatoire des Sciences de l’Univers participates, alongside various associations and local authorities, in the “Day of the Night”, a national event coordinated by the association Agir pour l’Environnement. The initiative aims to raise public awareness about the importance of the night sky and the impacts of light pollution on biodiversity, human health, and energy consumption..

Grenoble Alpes Métropole, the Vercors and Chartreuse Regional Nature Parks, and the Espace Belledonne—who have undertaken collaborative work on this topic—join the national initiative and organize awareness activities throughout October, with the Day of the Night as the main highlight.

From switching off public lighting to stargazing, night walks, and performances, Night Awareness Month offers dozens of events from October 1st to 31st across the Grenoble metropolitan area, Vercors, Chartreuse, and Belledonne, to educate the public about light pollution.
