Résumé

We propose an innovative experiment to image the hydrothermal system and well as the upper part of magmatic conduit of Merapi volcano. We plan to perform cross-flank electric resistivity imaging (ERI) using a very unusual approach. The expected penetration depth would be larger than 500 m. In addition the galvanometric data will be inverted in concert with existing magnetotelluric data. The project is built inside the existing MoU international framework between IRD and CVGHM (in Indonesia) with the goal of developing the use of electrical methods to study/monitor active volcanoes in Indonesia. In addition to the field work, we plan to stay 3 days in CVGHM-Bandung to strengthen our cooperation with this institute by giving seminars plus a course on Induced polarisation/ERI imaging with applications in hydrothermal systems and volcanoes. This course will be given by A. Revil and S. Byrdina at Bandung Institute of Technology.
