Molecular Complexity around the solar-type protostar IRAS4A

Résumé

This project addresses the fascinating question of our “chemical origins”. As part of the PhD thesis of Msc. H. Quitian Lara jointly between B. Lefloch (IPAG) and H.M. Boechat (UFRJ, Brazil), the goal is to obtain a complete census of the gas chemical composition, including pre-biotic molecules, of a protostar similar to the ancestor of our own Sun. It is based on the exploitation of the IRAM Large Program ASAI led by the IPAG team. The resulting data set will remain as a reference database for astrochemists (astronomers, chemists, and theoreticians). It constitutes a big step forward in the understanding of molecular complexity of the infancy of our own solar system. The goal of the proposal is to support a long term visit of PhD student H. Quitian Lara at IPAG to work with the French co-supervisor of the thesis.
