Stage de Master 1 - durée : 6 semaines entre mai et juillet

La topographie dynamique des océans répond-elle à l’isostasie ? Les variations de bathymétrie suggèrent souvent le contraire. La topographie dynamique aurait donc un rôle important. La bathymétrie des dorsales, qui oscille entre 0m et 6000m, répond-elle à l’écoulement profond du manteau ? Pour explorer ces questions, il s’agira de comparer les résultats de modèles prédictifs de topographie dynamique à la bathymétrie des dorsales. Le travail s’articulera entre cartographie et traitement du signal.

The plate kinematics of the whole Caribbean region is controversial and therefore it requires to be further investigated. This is the aim of a post-doctoral research project within which we offer a stimulating M1-M2 research project. Therefore, the candidate’s work will contribute on to better understand a large-tectonic scale problem related with a rifting stage (extensional tectonics) and how this controls the initiation of subduction (contractional tectonics).
